MM Q&A: Amy Morrison @thejadedmonkey
I love a mama who makes no excuses, is 100% themselves and 0% BS. A mother so unafraid of being real and vulnerable that you can't help but admire her. This particular mama is just that. I fell in Insta-love with Amy for her bad-ass mama attitude and real life/like it or not journey through motherhood with her two adorable girls.
Her car Insta-story sing-a-longs are contagious and her blog crazy addictive.
Who inspires you?
I'm not sure I can answer that one with any definitive answer. I find inspiration everywhere and in many forms. Sometimes from my girls, sometimes friends or family and sometimes I even manage to inspire myself... I guess you could say that my greatest inspiration is the desire to be the best me I can be, whatever that looks like
What is the best piece of advice you've recieved?
You can't pour from an empty cup. It's such a cliche but the longer I get into this Mumming journey, the truer those words become. I think that's one of the main reasons I've changed my focus on my social channels. I was so outwardly focused on my girls that I stopped focusing on me. It took me a long time and a couple of breakdowns to realise that I wasn't going to be the best mum I could be until I started to take care of myself first.
Who makes you laugh the most?
My husband. Don't tell him that.
Favourite time of day?
When I sit down on the couch and one or both of the girls come and snuggle into me.
Dessert island meal?
Just give me a Long Island iced tea and I'll be right
Best gift you've ever recieved?
I bought myself a black and white diamond ring when I got divorced, as a whole, "I don't need a man to make it happen" type thing. It symbolised the beginning of my journey to find out who I really was and what I really needed in my life to be happy
The next place you want to visit?
I lived in Japan for three years 12 years ago and haven't been back since I'm desperate to take the girls over there!
The last thing you did for yourself?
I tried cupping for the first time this week!
One vice you'll never give up?
Ummmm one? Ha! Coffee, chocolate, sleep (or the desire to have more of it), carbs...
Your go to weekly meal you cook?
I'd love to say I'm fancy, but a good Spag Bol always goes down well in our house.
Favourite coffee spot?
Anywhere I can drink it without having little sticky hands trying to get to it.
What brings you back down earth?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I'm not sure where I see myself tomorrow so who knows? I'm not much for forward planning!
Thank you Amy!
