World breastfeeding week + the birth of the #brealfie.
It's world breastfeeding week! This years theme is "breastfeeding and work: let's make it work!"
The WABA (world alliance for breastfeeding action) is calling for "a concerted global effort to support women to combine breastfeeding and work. Wether the woman is working in a formal, non-formal or home setting, it is necessary she is empowered in claiming her and her babies right to breastfeed".
More than 120 Australian companies and organisations have now been accredited as "breastfeeding friendly workplaces", the Royal Australian Air force is one of them! Keep it up Aussies!
While were talking about breastfeeding..
June's issue of Elle Australia hit the shelves with the beautiful Aussie model Nicole Trunfio on the cover draped in her beautiful son Zion, casually suckling away on her chest. The latest in a slew of celebrity pics showing mama and baby engaged in a beautiful act I'm now officially calling the #brealfie, the breastfeeding selfie.
Totally making this a thing now.. What do you think of the celebrity #brealfie?
I'm always down for promoting breastfeeding in public and do believe that we need more support for women performing (or trying to perform) this sacred, necessary mama/baby act in public but i can't help but think...... Is this a random act that happened to be caught on film or the new way for celebs to earn street cred?
You be the judge! #idunno
